The University of Manchester’s Process Manufacturing Group (PMG) is a member of the consortium. The PMG conducts research on polymeric materials and processes and NEPPCO members have access to its facilities.
Our track record in research includes several projects supported by European Regional Development funding totalling £4 million. Two members companies and the University obtained DTI funding of £460K to investigate energy saving in rotational moulding processes. NEPPCO has compiled a list of technical support and funding available to its members.
The economics of manufacture is a theme common to all of the PMGs work.
Two of our most important beliefs are that:
- Useful technology can only exist within industry. It is the combination of laboratory based science with industrial and market knowledge which makes for success or failure.
- Most, if not all, targeted research projects which fail to achieve commercialisation, fail because of factors which were discernable at the concept stage had the right analysis been done.
