In the consortium
we have Companies who are independent and also Companies who have Tool
Making capacity as well as other manufacturing divisions.
A plant list for a typical company would cover;
- Computers for Design, Draughting and Cutter Path Assimilation, With associated work stations for passing programme's to the machining
department
- Wire and Spark Erosion
- CNC Machinery with CAD / CAM Network, including;
- High Speed Machining
- Conventional Milling
- Jig Boring
- Turning and Grinding
- Specialist machinery for Deep Hole Drilling
- Fitting and Polishing Sections
One of our members, Moorland have the capability to produce tools up to 10 Tonne
for all types of plastic processes and, in some cases for Metal Injection
Tooling, In addition, some have separate departments for Modification
and Repair work
In today’s environment it is becoming more common for the Toolmaker
to also handle the Product Design, sometimes in connection with Industrial
designers and also supervise the manufacture of Rapid prototype’s
and even the initial Sampling.
This then relieves the end user of employing specialist’s staff
and the associated overhead costs.
We believe that the Consortium approach can help towards achieving
this.
